Vindictus seeks to stymie RMT bots by introducing a new currency that allows for in-game gold trading

Despite the risks to game accounts and personal security, MMO players would still rather spend money with gold-farming bots than try to make in-game cash themselves; it’s a problem about as old as MMORPGs themselves. Vindictus is definitely no stranger to this problem and the bot accounts it brings, and so the devs are looking to fight back with the addition of a new currency known as airgead that can be spent to buy gold in-game directly.

The new currency was unveiled in the game’s latest dev talk video with game director Allanon, who explains that airgead can be purchased from the cash shop at a 1:1 ratio, then spent on a gold-specific auction house where players can buy or sell gold; buyers will (obviously) get the currency they want, while sellers can take the earned airgead and spend it ike NX currency at the cash shop with some restrictions.

The video additionally confirms plans for the first portion of 2025, which include a PTS for the MMO’s next character and its next raid boss fight on Wednesday, January 8th, followed by an official release on January 16th that not only adds the new character and raid but also launches a Golden Time event that promises useful materials for new arrivals, returning players, and those headed towards raid content. Allanon also confirms an in-person event happening in South Korea on December 15th that will officially unveil the new character.
