Sony Interactive Entertainment has rolled out a new PlayStation 5 system update.
The headline feature of the update is an improvement to the data transfer process between PS5 consoles.
Sony began a phased release of PS5 software update version 24.08-10.40.00 on December 3.
We’ve improved the process of transferring data from another PS5 and enhanced stability when transferring large amounts of data, such as captures.
We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.
December’s PlayStation Plus Essential games were released on Tuesday. It Takes Two (PS4, PS5), Aliens: Dark Descent (PS4, PS5) and Temtem (PS5) will be available for subscribers to claim until January 6.
December’s additions to the Classics Catalog, which is available to PlayStation Plus Premium members, will include PS2 games Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. They will be released on December 10.
Sony will be running a free online multiplayer weekend from December 6-8. On these dates, online multiplayer modes for PS5 and PS4 titles will be accessible without a PlayStation Plus subscription.
The platform holder will also release a free trial version of Gran Turismo 7 this week. Titled My First Gran Turismo, it will be available for PS4 and PS5 through the PlayStation Store, starting on December 6 at 12am local time.
