If you’re wondering why publishers are refusing to commit to release dates for 2025, there’s one big reason: Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated game is currently planned for release in Fall 2025 and will most likely set sales records.

As a result, it feels natural that publishers are doing their best to stay away from GTA 6’s release window. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reports that several competing game publishers are holding out on announcing firm release dates for the fall to do their best to avoid competition with Grand Theft Auto VI. Like the rest of us (im)patiently waiting, they wonder if GTA VI, which has already missed several internal deadlines, will be delayed to 2026.

Where Is The New Trailer For Grand Theft Auto VI

Grand Theft Auto VI Vice City

It’s been over a year since Rockstar Games debuted the world of Grand Theft Auto VI. Many fans are rightfully asking, “Where is the next trailer? When will we learn more about the game?”

Rockstar has always been a secretive company when it comes to revealing information about its games. According to one former Rockstar dev, this strategycan work in their favor. “Specifically Rockstar, they’re very secretive about what they do,” said Mike York, who worked on Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V. “This is a really cool tactic because it creates allure and it creates mystery and it creates people talking about it without them having to do anything.”
